  1. The average CC runner doesn't use spikes, but some of us do during certain races, runners who do run CC with spikes usually wear the spikes during rain/mud/sand terrains.  Also, Some who can take the pain and run the distance, usually not more than a 5 K, some(very few) choose to run in spiked shoes, BUT they tend to take out the spikes in other types or terrain than those said above, and honestly you can use w/e you want, I use "aligater shoes" they are very thin and light, offering very little protection, marathon runners(wear something like them, just un-spiked, and they're like 8 ounces) but honestly, spiked shoes are spiked shoes, IF they have detachable spikes that's good, it will allow a more diverse option to the track, CLEETS are completly different though, cleets are liketennis shoes that have spikes on them, slower for CC, but not too bad in Rain so long as it's on grassy plains, not so good for dirt.

And I can't tell you where to find them, try local sports store, last I saw, Sports Authority has them, but I find mine form small time stores, and like I said, Track or CC, as long as they're Aligator's I use'em, Hope i helped.  :)

  2. Most cross country course runners don't use spikes. They use waffles which you'll probably find more of in your sports supply store. You might be talking about long distance spike which have a little bit of cushioning on the heel. You can find those with regular track spikes. The difference is short distance spikes have a plastic/rubbery spikes on the heel and not much cushion.

    hope I helped

  3. ok well for cross country you don't really need spikes i did fine without them last season the diffrence is that in cross country you run in grass and dirt and other mineral objects like these and in track your running on hard rubber/cement all tracks are made out of something diffrent....if you want spikes you can go to these stores.richies, ***** sporting goods...vertical runner...if you don't get spikes for cross country i would perfer a light weight shoe becuase its easier to run with the least possible weighted shoe a good shoe for this would be called asics

  4. well here in California, we don't run in spikes for xc. we run in these special shoes called FLATS. they're a lot lighter than regular trainers, and they don't have areas to put spikes in (as in track) normally, in sports authority here, they only have like 1 flat. not much variety. i advise you to go to a specialty running store (ie Snails Pace & RoadRunner) and ask them for xc flats, and they should have tons for you. they average around $40-$90.

  5. GO ONTO EASTBAY

  6. The sole plate and spikes are different. The cross country spike is made for dirt and other conditions while the track spike is made for  a hard track.

    Look at www.mfathletic.com

  7. because cross country usally takes place on trails or in the woods, the spikes are longer than track spikes to get a better grip on the trail, track spikes are kinda short... u can get spikes at almost any good running store, *****, modells or try a different sports authority store
