i need an answer every time my dad punishes me he hits me and thinks of it as a good lesson but when i look in his eyes he looks like a little kid who wants to tyake his anger out on someone else for making him mad and btw i'm 15 years old and don't believe that 15 year olds should be punished this way. actually i have absolutely no respect for him because he says that he had it hard with his dad when he was a kid and feels that he should take out what he didnt have in his childhood on me and my older brothers. i honestly believe he needs a therapist but seriously is this real "discipline" or something else?

  1. Is he like spanking you on your butt or punching you in the stomach? What exactly is he disciplining you for? I think 15 is kinda too old to be spanked but it also depends on what he is punishing you for.

  2. I don't believe in hitting children.  This where they learn violence in the family and can carry it into adulthood as your father obviously did.

If he were to hit an adult in this way he could well be charges with assault.

  3. Discipline is meant to teach the child something about accountability for their choices and actions. Discipline is not just about a consequence it is also about teaching the child to make better choices Discipline  can be a time out, removing privileges or just sitting down and talking through the issue.Discipline does not mean random slaps, punches or beatings to "teach the child a lesson". Discipline doesn't mean humiliating the child or causing them emotional abuse. These are all anger issues. Anger issues arise when the parent can't control their own emotions when dealing with a situation.

  4. tell him tht ....even if there r chances he will hit u but he will noe tht he is wrong in hitting u .............tell him tht it is not ur fault tht his father was a bad father but atleast he should have learned something
