  1. Its different because u hav to be mor cautious on second serve because if u miss on the sec. serve u lose the point and on the first serve u can be more risky and try to hit it harder because if u miss u dont lose the point

  2. Usually tennis players try a very hard shot for their first-serve to try to get an ace, and they put on slices. (mostly) It is hard to get it in if you try that so they wouldn't risk it the second  time.

If they they miss the first-serve they will get a second chance wich they won't risk so they place it in easilly.

The diss-advantage is if a player gets a first-serve in they have the offence, and should win the point. If you do your second-serve which will be around 40-70 mph the opponent will return it well, and the point will go to the better player in that particular point.

Hope this helps. I enjoyed answering this question too.

  3. you get another go at first service (second service) if you fault on second service your opponent gets the point

  4. first serve- the 1st serve you hit- you go for this shot because you know you have  a 2nd shot at it.

second serve-the 2nd serve you hit-you try and get this serve in because you have no more chances after this.- sometimes its known as a weakness as some people hit it really softly in.

    hope i helped!!!

  5. ding ding ! no light on and nobody at home...

  6. The serving player receives two serves each point. A first serve and a second serve.

The first serve is usually hit to try and win the point easily; so it is usually hit with a lot pace and/or slice.

I'm sure you know that the serve must land in the service box (the one nearest to the net) on the other side of the court to the server.

If the server misses this first serve (be it that it goes out or hits the net) then they have another chance to serve, which is their second serve.

The second serve is pretty much the safe serve. It is hit, making sure it goes in, to initiate the point.

The second serve is a disadvantage because it's hard to get the right balance of power. You want to hit it with enough that it won't be easy for your opponent to hit a winner off of, but also with not too much that it goes out of control and possibly out or in the net.

If a player misses both serves, they hit a double fault, which means their opponent automatically wins the point.

  7. the difference is that when u do your first serve, you can hit it however u like and if you don't get it in, this u always have a second chance. but if u miss that 2nd chance, that's a free point for your opponent...which isn't good at all.the only way that u can get additional chances is if u get a "let" meaning that the ball hit the net, then went over INTO the correct box.

the MAIN diff between first and 2nd serves is that 99% of the time your opponents first serve will be a hard one, but they tend to kinda slack on the 2nd one so they can just hit it in

  8. The first serve usually possesses less spin than the second serve. It is more of a power serve, and it should go in 60% of the time you are serving. Most people use the first serve when they are in trouble or if they are trying to win the point. The toss is out in front of you more so you can get a good hit on the ball, again, not wanting to hit much spin at all. It is normally used for cheap points, to get to net and put away the volley, or just an ace. (Then again, cheap points.) It is supposed to be less consistent than the second serve. Some who are less comfortable with their hard first serve use two lighter serves so that the first one goes in.

The second serve is used only when you miss the first serve. It is more of a defensive shot, but some hit is almost as hard as the first serve. The second serve is supposed to have spin on it, which 90% of peoples serve have. The toss has to be over your left shoulder, to get spin, and you brush the ball like you are "peeling" and orange to get more topspin on it. Topspin allows the ball to travel and go over the net safer than a flat ball (normally used on first serves.)

The difference between them both is that the first serve is offensive, and it is most effective on fast type hard courts and grass courts, because you can serve and volley and ace them more because the surface is faster and allows the ball to travel faster.

People with lighter and less effective serves are different. The clay court surface benefits them, because that is when the first serve is least effective, and you don't want to attack net as much.

The first serve is more powerful, and the second serve is less powerful. First serve allows you to volley more because it sets the point up for a winner, and the second serve is more defensive and players have it just to get it in as a backup for missing the first serve.

Oh yeah, and if you miss both the first and second serves, it is a double fault, and you lose the point. So you want to get that second ball in if you miss the first serve!

  9. Your second serve is your 'safe serve' and not as hard to return.

  10. Because there is more pressure on the second serve, as you will lose the point if you miss it.
