  1. hollow bodies are just hollow inside...

Thom is right ... give him best answer.

  2. A solid body guitar is a guitar with SOLID construction. It means the guitar's body is made from one or two pieces of wood. It's the most common style of electric guitar out there. Examples include the fender stratocaster, telecaster, gibson les paul, sg, etc.. Just about every artist out there plays one.

Jimmy Hendrix, Slash, Jimmy Page, Steve vai, etc.

A semi-hollow body guitar is a guitar with multiple pieces of wood and two F-holes in the body. There is a center block in the middle of the guitar to mount the pickups on and reduce feedback. they're thin but not as thin as most solid body guitars. Nick valensi of the strokes and noel gallagher of oasis use semi-hollow body guitars.

A hollow body guitars are big instruments, bigger than solid bodies and semi-hollowbodies. An example would be a Gretsch guitar. There is no center block inside the guitar.

Brian Setzer plays hollowbody guitars. So do many jazz players.
