  1. The Tasmanian peoples tended no to use clothing instead protecting themselves from the weather by applying a thick layer of rendered fat

  2. Tasmania was separated from the mainland of Australia for 10,000 years. I don't know whether that would be long enough to see any difference between the two populations.

I have seen suggestions that the Tasmaian lot were on the decline anyway perhaps due to size of the gene pool?

If they weren't in a bad way before the white man got there they certainly were after, the last full blood Tasmaian Aboriginal died in 1876.

  3. Are you serious?

Aboriginals situated in Tasmania were masacred into non-existance in our early history...

  4. There is a minor DNA divergence noted in the scientific papers, however there are no longer any Tasmanian "full blood" aborigines anymore. Plenty of mixed decent part aboriginals, and I suppose that is the main difference between the mainland and Tasmania.

  5. There are people living in Tasmania today who have links to the aboriginal people of pre-colonisation days. It is not true to say that they have died out.

  6. Tasmanian Aboriginals were more warrior like similar to the Maoris and mainland ones were nomadic.

  7. They were smaller and had a lighter skin.
