  1. Methodists are a subset of Protestants, who are a subset of Christians.  Preceding answers are valid.

  2. Christians believe in Christ. Methodists believe in Christ. It's like...Methodists are a smaller group within the larger Christianity group.

  3. I think they are Christian also. Unusual questions tonight, I saw this same one about Baptists a minute ago. Usually this question is pointed at Catholics.

  4. Methodists are a denomination of Christianity.  They are Christians.

  5. I've never met a rabid Methodist.  I have met plenty of rabid people who consider themselves 'Christians.'

Methodism was started by a man named John Wesley. I am not clear, myself, on what his 'method' was, but it seems to be a very rational, laid-back, inclusive sort of Christian faith.  I attend a Methodist church as an associate member, and I like the faith very much.

I can't believe no one could figure out what you're trying to do... this question is obviously a joke, based no doubt on the endless stream of "Whats the difference between Catholics and Christians?" questions that people keep asking over and over again on this site...

Methodists and Catholics are both Christians, and in general they tend to be among the most intellectually astute of all the different denominations...

  7. Here's the major dates you need to know about how Christian denominations come about, with an emphasis on the Methodists:

1054:  the Eastern and Western Churches split - the Eastern Church calls itself "Orthodox" while the Western Church calls itself "Catholic" and is headed by the pope (aka the Roman Catholic Church)

1517:  Martin Luther's 95 Theses mark the start of the Reformation, which sees a number of churches (collectively known as the Protestant churches) separate from the Roman Catholic Church

1530s-1559:  the Church of England (now known as the Anglicans) separate from the Roman Catholic Church

1729-1735:  John and Charles Wesley and a couple of other Anglican students at Oxford University form a group dedicated to becoming more holy:  this group forms the basis of Methodism

1730s-40s:  the Wesleys preach a lot and gain a lot of followers during what is known as the Methodist Revival - this group ultimately gets kicked out of the Church of England, so they organize themselves as the Methodist Church
