one thing ive noticed, is the importance of prenatals if you're trying to conceive. Will multivitamins work the same if you don't want to take prenatals? what do prenatals have that mv don't? ive taken both, but the mv's make me feel like I'm always happy, lol. prenatals don't do that for me :(

  1. Prenatals are better, and you can get them OTC for the same price as multi's. They ave extra folic acid (really important for early pregnancy, before you even know you're pregnant), and extra iron.

  2. well if you start comparing the amount of each vitamin and mineral you will see the difference there.  as long as the multivitamin you are taking has at least 1mg of folic acid in it, your good to go.  OR you could carry on taking the multivitamin and supplement with folic acid as well.  The folic acid is the most important ingredient as it helps prevent neural tube defects.  You could always take the prenatal vitamin before going to bed then you wouldn't have to worry about it!

  3. multi vitamins are formulated for your bodies normal needs, prenatal vit. are formulated for your bodies needs while pregnant. There is a higher percentage of minerals and vitamins. But if you are trying to concieve the prenatal vitamins will help a lot more than a daily mutli.

  4. Prenatal vitamins have more of certain vitamins that are needed during pregnancy, the ones you lose the fastest.  Multivitamins have less of the vitamins that is why you can't just take a regular multivitamin while pregnant.  Prenatals just seem to have more of what a female body needs to help encourage a healthy body and pregnancy.
