  1. When you submit a photo for publication and it makes into the actual printed version of a newspaper or magazine, or onto a real website, you have published the picture.

When you have what you believe to be an in-high-demand picture and you advertise that it is for sale, that would be advertising your picture.

    I hope that helps!

  2. Publishing is 'getting something into print/ internet media,' it could be picture, a story, an article and likewise.

    Advertising is 'communicating a message.'

Advertisement could either be in print, audio and visual meidias, called media vehicles.

Hence, you can print a picture but you cannot advertise a picuture alone since a tupical Ad contains about 25% of text as message apart from the graphics. Plus, there has to be a punchline, a slogan, and there might be a unique selling proposition as well apart from the copy of the ad.

Volks Wagon once published an Ad the was cotaining a small dot like product logo on the entire page of newspaper, but still it's a Published Ad not a published picture!

I hope you have got the difference.

  3. She's absolute correct.
