I'm looking for a way to transport a 8'6" longboard to the beach on top of my car, and I don't know wether or not to buy a single or double soft rack. Could someone tell me what the difference is, and what you recommend? Thanks!!

  1. How may boards it will carry.  Single will carry two long or three short boards (if you put them on correctly).  A double rack will carry twice as many.

If you have a wide enough roof I would go with a a double rack.  I like the ability to carry more than one board without having to stack them, keeps wax from getting on the bottom of your board.

Are you asking about a setup with only strap?  Those are for the tailgates of pickup trucks.  You need a set with two straps, whether you buy single or double pads all depends upon how many boards you wanna carry.  You may only have one board but if you take friend with you (saves gas) you may want to get a double set.

    (Don't pay Swell's price!)

Two foam pads go on the roof. Nylon straps attach the rack to your roof and the surfboard to your racks. You'll get two pads to balance the board on. I bought double racks for under 30.00 on Ebay.

  3. A single board rack carries one board and a two pad board rack carries two.
