  1. I agree with the 1st answer.

  2. Listen jr their are two things and only two things that win wars, Navy's and Air force's you cant win a war without them pure and simple. Grunts and soldiers exist soley to obsorb bullets and paint churches. The Navy's where the real men come to use their wit's and brawn. The Marines belong to the Navy and the army belongs to the babies.

  3. The Army lets you pick your job and the Marines let you think you are picking your job and then they pick it.

  4. I'd love to rip into the silly pissing contests that exist between the 2 branches but the bottom line has always been this to me, as I have Marine time and my brother in law has Army time.

Both branches have good people and bad people. Both branches have ways to s***w with you. Both branches have missions. Both branches have protocols. Both branches have terrible jokes about the other branch.

The main differences were early on in their histories and over time they became very similar, throughout this time both branches developed their own reputations. I can testify that it was beaten into our heads at boot camp that the only reason the marine corps still exists is because of their history and reputation which was built by their accomplishments.

    Americans want marines.

  5. The Army and Marines are both the military's backbone if people want to dog out a military branch talk about the Navy or the AirForce. Don't knock the Army or Marines they are the ones that are TRULY at war. Joining the Navy or the AirForce, in my opinion, is a cheap way of wanting credit for serving their country. Bring our troops home and God Bless them all.

  6. The Army is focused on accomplishing their mission, defeating the enemy and securing their objectives.

The Marines are focused on portraying a good image to the world, taking credit for everything the Army does, and securing maximum media coverage.

Equipment-wise, the Marines are roughly the same as Army light infantry -- they have rifles, machine guns, some small mortars, lots of soft-skinned or under-armored vehicles.  Plus, they have, like, 3 tanks in the entire corps.  There is rumor that they have an 'air force-like' air wing, but most Marines are embarrassed to admit to such POGs amongst them.

Training-wise, the Marines are much more into the individual heroics than the Army.  They don't embrace the idea of a combined arms team, instead they go for dualing mentality things like one-shot-one-kill.  That is the primary reason the USMC has higher per-capita casualties than the Army -- they don't up-armor as much and they all operate like they want to be John Wayne when they grow-up.

In contrast, the Army is all about putting massive ordnance on target while maintaining reasonable levels of force protection.  Their motto is "when in doubt, empty the magazine".

The most significant difference though, is the common phraseology of the two services.  The Army says "HOOAH"!  The Marines try to say "HOOAH", but since they spend most of their time deep-throating sailors, it usually sounds like "ooooraaah".

But I acknowledge that I am a biased answerer...

  7. NOT MUCH DIFFERNCE....MARINES ARE A DEPARTMENT IN THE NAVY AND HAVE TOUGHER TRAINING AND ARE KNOWN AROUND THE WORLD...BUT  ARMY HAS WAY MORE JOBS AND MORE OPPERTUNITIES IN LIFE AND PAYS BETTER

  8. These answers are hilarious... I can't wait until LavaDog, Marine, and ReKonDog get ahold of this one... *LOL*

Of course, I can laugh, because I know you soldiers are just jealous:)

  9. The Army exists to fight battles.  The Marines exist to provide sailors with dance partners.

  10. Marines basic training 3 mts. Army is 2. This does not include time for specialty training that depends on what you want 2 study.

Marines train in everything unlike the other branches they also train in fighting styles ( also the qualiflying times are decreased & you are required to do more)

    Their ranking system is diffrent.

Some branches are offering a bonus to join(as long as you meet the qualifications)

They have two very diffrent styles.

I suggest doing your reseach & deciding what's best for you. Their are lots of books & websites to help you don't neglect them. But make sure you know all the facts & do ur own reseach just don't go by what other people tell u
