Whats the difference between the expensive and inexpensive webcams?

i'm looking for one thats affordable but has good image quality and video in color and what not?

The biggest differences for webcams are the:

==> size of the lens (bigger allows more light in). Glass is much better than plastic.

==> size of the imaging chip(s) (bigger captures more of that light)

You also need a fast internet connection to transmit all that information.

Most camcorders of today have these features which you are locking for. The difference comes in the form of price - you pay for certain features like whether it comes with internal memory SD card, how big the capacity is, the mega pixels, or no internal memory, etc.
