  1. There are a few differences between the two types. x64 can run twice as many colours than x32, giving a much better looking image than you would be used to. Also, performance-wise, x64 is much faster than x32, and the difference is immediately noticeable. Besides that, on an x32 system, the max amount of RAM that can be installed is 4GB, whereas on Vista Ultimate x64, you can have 128GB.

The main disadvantage of x64 (on XP mainly though) was that alot of programs still aren't compatible, deciding to stay with x32 for a little while longer. But seeing as Vista is primarily an x64 system, that problem won't be around much longer.

So basically, x64 is better for games, but some of your drivers might not be compatible.

    Hope that helps=]

  2. The bit is the difference in the processors and how the operating system is built for that processor. A bit is a single switch in binary which is either a 1 or a 0, while a byte is a sequence of 8 bits. If you're looking to run games, I would absolutely recommend a 32 bit operating system, as 64 bit operating systems rarely run all programs. You will, however, have to get an operating system which matches your processor, which is most likely a 32 bit processor.

  3. i would deff recommend u go with 64bit even for games vista x64 is not like xp x64 it will run both 32 and 64bit apps plus 32bit only lets u get 4 gigs of ram (if your lucky) 64 lets u get up to 16 gigs

  4. Hi, my name’s Cody, and I’m working with the Windows Vista Outreach team to help answer questions folks might have about Windows Vista.

Steveo did a pretty good job explaining what a bit is, so I'll try and answer your question about the differences between 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Vista.

There are way too many differences for me to list here, but luckily, Microsoft has actually put together a pretty handy FAQ that should be able to answer your questions.  Here’s a link:  http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/windows...

Either version of Vista works great for games, just make sure that you buy the version of the game that is compatible with your particular copy of Vista.

I hope that site is helpful.  If you’ve got some specific questions that the site doesn’t cover, feel free to drop me a line and I’ll do my best to answer them.

    Thanks,

    Cody
