whatever you're set of irons there should be 4 degree difference in loft and a course some companies have different ideas about length sometimes the pitch is the same length or half inch shorter .and usually a little heavier swing wait

mainly the loft, a 9 iron has less loft than a pw so the ball has a lower trajectory and less spin. the 9 iron also  will go a little farther than the pw.

The only thing different is the loft.

The 9 will go lower and further over the PW.

The PW will go higher but shorter than a 9.

each iron in the set from 3-9 and pw and sw are the same except each club has more loft as you increase the number.  Also, more loft, and less shaft length.  short length clubs that are open more are easier to hit, but, they hit the ball shorter distances and usually send the ball higher in the air.
