  1. there are for quarters in a school year and there are 2 semesters in a school year.

  2. There are 4 quarters in a year of school. The summer quarter usually is a little shorter. Administrators think they can pack a semester of learning into a quarter. There are three semesters in a year(if your school has a summer semester). As a student, if you can pick things up quickly, go for the school with the quarters. It might be a little more expensive but you will finish a little quicker.

  3. quarter 1/4 year, semester usually 1/2 school year\

  4. semester is half of the school year, or two grading periods.. and a quarter is just one grading period.

  5. Semester means between the end of summer and the beginning of the following summer, there are two grading periods. Quarter means over the whole year there are 4 grading periods-one of these is summer, so in a normal school year there are only 3 quarters

A lot of people say Semesters are too long, but they allow the course material to be presented over a more spread out period.

Quarters allow you to fit more classes into a year and you change schedule more often, but everything is fit into a shorter period so the class moves faster.

  6. quarter is half a semester and semester is half a school year
