Slatron and slate, what are the advantages/disadvantages of both?

  1. Slate's the real deal.  It's a type of rock and it's what the tournament tables are made of.  Slatron is a man-made marketing substitute to make the table cheaper and lighter.  It's ok to get started on or if you're not that serious about playing.
