  1. Automatic Voltage Regulator keeps the output voltage almost constant no matter how the input voltage fluctuates within the specified voltage. As both too low and too high voltage may damage electrical/electronics devices AVR is a must have if power supply voltage is not stable.

    Surge protectors protect ectrical/electronics devices by bypassing sudden very high voltage (surge), such as lightning, from the devices to the ground. If such surge are allowed to to pass to your device then you know the consequence, I believe.
