  1. No they are not.  Are Japanese people the same as Chinese people.  The confusion comes from people from Thailand, Japan, Korea.....etc coming to the US and selling stupid American people food calling it Chinese.

  2. japanese is more raw stuff like sushi, its raw fish

  3. Chinese food is divided into alot of catagories, because different types of food come from different parts of china. for example Sichuan food is generally hot and spicy, whereas Fujian food is generally more sour in taste. The food most people eat at restaurants is Cantonese food. Sweet and sour pork etc.

Chinese food then evolved down to Asia thruout the centuries. And now we have several new types of Chinese food. In Singapore there is a Fusion of chinese and Malay food, they call it Peranakan.

Japanese food on the other hand, is basically the same throughout Japan. And Japanese prefers to use Ajinomoto or Konbu in their food, whereas the Chinese will try to avoid using this.

  4. Japanese food is cat less

  5. taste, presentation and cooking methods,,,,

Chinese food has a variety of taste, hot and spicy to mild, salty to sweet and sour ...while Japanese have basically 2 taste: salty and sweet....

Chinese value on the taste bud then on the presentation.. trying out something even if it doesn't look good .. could taste pretty dam good...... while Japanese believe that presentation delights the palette.. that is why in a Chinese restaurant you see the chef just do minimum effort of the presentation...Japanese believe that a meal must be good in appearance it must evoke the taste bud with the appearance before the smell..

just go into any Chinese restaurant and a Japanese restaurant .. you will immediately find that these two restaurant have different sets of equipment.. even the wok is of different size...

for a Chinese chef. his wok, his 1 chopping knife and skill in controlling the fire .. is his livelihood..

while for a Japanese chef. his sets of knives , chopping board and his fingers are his tools ...

  6. Well think about this!

    Chinese food is from CHINA!!!

    Japanese food is from JAPAN!!!

They are two completely different countries!

  7. Chinese food is from China and Japanese food is from Japan.  Two very different places, and so is the food.

  8. completely different ! about the only common thread is the jasmine rice and the soy sauce.chinese food is like country cooking, japanese food is like fine artistic quiseine.

    they are certainly different

  9. They are not the same.

Chinese food isn't just one thing, anyway. China is a huge country with many regions. Four regions dominate the national cuisine. The primary Chinese regional cooking styles are Cantonese, Szechuan, Beijing, and Shanghai styles, with sub-categories in those.

The different types arose because of the different geography of each region: one coastal and southern, one highland and land locked, one coastal and northern, and one northern, inland, and on the edge of the dusty plain. Each one developed their cuisine based on locally available ingredients and tastes.

Chinese cooking in the west is often adapted to western tastes, but you can ask to have an authentic, family style dish made for you at any restaurant.

Japanese food depends largely on gifts from the sea, as it's a much smaller island nation. Less land area means fewer resources for fuel, and Japanese cooking has adapted to that with many raw or pickled dishes.

    That's what I know.

  10. About the same difference as Italian and French food.  Japanese uses more fish, fresh veggies, etc.  Both use lots of rice.  Chinese food in USA is not really Chinese food.  So beware.  Authentic Chinese food is fresher and less meats of any kind.

  11. You can be certain, there is NO whalemeat in chinese food
