Whats the diffrence between coconut water and coconut milk??

is it really the same thing?? do you get the same electrolytes from both??

  1. They are not the same thing.  Coconut milk is boiled and strained coconut meat.  It is high in sugar and fat.

    Coconut water is the liquid found in young green coconuts.  It is sweet and refreshing, rich in potassium and electrolytes, and is so chemically similar to plasma it has been used by Doctors Without Borders in transfusions.  It is sold on the juice aisle of many health food stores.


  2. coconut WATER is the natural juice found inside the coconut, as opposed to coconut milk, which is made by boiling equal amounts of WATER and shredded coconut together until foamy, then straining, or coconut cream, which is made in the same manner with a ratio of four parts of shredded coconut to one part WATER.
