  1. These two poems are both Shakespearian poems and have a lot of figurative language such as similes, metaphors, imagery, idioms and more. Many people express their feelings in letters, song, books etc. Form what sonnet 18 and 75 reveal; Shakespeare and Spenser express their feelings by poems.  Sonnet seventy-five and sonnet eighteen compare and contrast in many ways.

Sonnet 18 and 75 compare for many reasons. One reasons why is because they both talk about the love but in a figurative language like sand and summer day.  Sonnet 18 and 75 both says that their love will never end. Also both poems says that there love will live forever because in sonnet 18 every time someone reads the poem there love will be there and last forever, and in sonnet 75 every time the speaker says “his verses will make her famous” and people will remember there love. Also they’re both iambic pentameter. Last but not least, another thing that both poems share is that speaker says in sonnet 18 that “So long lives this and this gives life to thee”, and sonnet 75 says “our love shall live, and later life renew, which is referring that let there love live and in the future it will be remembered.

Sonnet 18 and 75 differ in many ways. Shakespeare sonnet is direct address to his lover, whereas Spenser’s sonnet is in the form of a conversation with his wife. Shakespeare compares his lover with only one object, “summer's day” and lists out the negative aspects of summer season and concludes that his lover who is a personification of all the positive qualities of “eternal summer shall not fade.”  Spenser, on the other hand, does not compare his lover to any object. Sonnet 18 has the rhyme scheme: ababcdcdefef gg and sonnet 75 has the rhyme scheme: ababbcbccdcd ee.
