I just recently got my free annual credit report and i saw some things on there i would like to remove since on those i was an authorized user, and from what i understand not liable. I've been looking it up all over the web and have gotten some advice, but none of the websites said how long it would take to actually get it taken off my credit and how long it will take to improve my credit from there. My credit report said i have 3 open accounts that are doing well and that i have 5 negative items, 3 of those 5, like i said, i was an authorized user and am going to try and get removed. But on 1 of the other 2 it looked like the card i just paid off this year was closed, is there anything i can do about that closed card so it doesn't show on my credit? Ok and one last question, what could i do to build my credit back into the positive direction once those items are removed? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

(Sorry that it's a little confusing but please give some advice.)

  1. creditors are allowed to post even authorized users to the report. Sorry but the best way is to dispute the action. If they cannot prove that you are on the account then they must remove your posting. If they can they can report till the cows come home. Any posting that is not correct must be removed per the Fair Credit Reporting Act. To build your scores you must get all balances under the 30% of the actual limit on the bank and pay as agreed

  2. Please ,go to your bank and show up the print to your maneger

  3. Since you were a authorized user you can try disputing the accounts but if they come back as correct they will continue to show for 7-years from the date of first delinquency per the Fair Credit Reporting Act which works out to 7-years and 180-days.

If you don't get these accounts removed just keep on using your credit cards for every day things, never exceed 30% of your credit limit and pay in full before the due date and remember credit scores are 90% made up of the last 24-months of activity so the older the derogatory accounts get the less they impact your score.

    Good luck

  4. Sorry, it takes Seven years to clear negative items.  Until then, just keep paying your bills on time, pay a little more than the minimum each month.  I've had to go thru this twice and I survived and now have excellent credit.

    Good luck.

  5. You have to pay them off, that's how.
