The typical warded padlock key operates the lock latch using just the tip of the key. You do need a warded key that will insert into the warded lock but not necessarily open it. Those are easy to find: just buy a similar lock and use its keys. File off all those protrusions sticking out from the side of the key to defeat the wards, and then use the tip of the key to operate the latch.
