  1. Ignore anno.....

Macs cannot read NTFS partitions out of the box. You can use paragon NTFS to do this. http://www.paragon-software.com/home/ntf...

Its only a 10 day trial if you don't want to pay but you should be able to transfer everything over to your external hdd in 10 days....

You could use your ipod if you go into itunes and check the box "enable disk use". I am not exactly sure where that is because i do not have a 30gb ipod. If you did it with an ethernet cable, you might need a crossover cable, but in network cards you don't. If you do it via ethernet, plug the two computers together via ethernet cable. Then put everything you want to move over into one folder. Then make sure that that folder is shared over network. And on the other computer you should see the computer show up in the network and explore the files of the other computer. And find the folder you want in the other computer and then copy them over. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

  2. Macs can only read NTFS formatted drives.

They can read/write FAT32 just fine.

Windows cannot read Mac formatted disks without additional 3rd party software.

You can connect the Macs together with a FireWire cable and use FIreWire Target Disk Mode.

Connect the computers with a 6 pin FireWire cable.

Restart your iMac then press and hold the T key.

It should show up as an additional disk on the MacBook.

You can drag files to/from it as a normal drive.

  3. You can reformat the external drive to Mac format, if the stupid thing will let you.  Macs are a pain in my behind.

I know with Windows you can connect the two computers together and they will recognize each others hard drives.  Macs ... I'm not so sure you can give it a shot.

  4. That would be why macs suck. Can you not hook up the external hard drive to the mac?:S I dont think u can ethernet a mac and windows can u?:S
