This condo we moved into is old. We bought it cheap and now we have to fix it up cheap. And I mean I'm pretty broke. My kitchen floor is old. Its the old material. So say if me and one other person were going to rip up my kitchen floor and lay something down, whats the cheapest, yet nice looking.

Thankyou

  1. well if you catch things on sale..you can do tile..or even the laminate wood...there are alot at lowes home depot that are 2 bucks a square foot...its not supposed to be hard to lay...check it out

  2. Move.

  3. You can get some very nice sticky tile, and it is a cinch to put down. Just make sure you purchase a few extra tiles for mistakes made cutting.

  4. Home Depot has some vinyl in tile or planks which stick to each other but not the floor. The patterns are good, the price is good, it's very easy to work with. Beats peel and stick tile hands down and it's very water resistant, unlike laminate. Best of all, it's very easy to replace a section if it gets damaged. I've had it in my living room and bedroom for 18 months and it still looks like new, I have two dogs and am always walking in from outside with shoes on. Don't rip up your floor just yet. You may be able to go right over it, depending what you have there now. You need a smooth surface for this stuff but there are compounds to fill the bad parts of the old floor.

  5. I like vinyl tile.  Looks a lot better than vinyl sheet, and can be a lot easier to deal with (easier to cut the little squares the right size) than the sheets... but be sure to use decent glue (often called "cutback") to glue them down, as the peel and stick type don't stay stuck.  You can get some that look just like ceramic tile for cheap, they go on sale at Home Depot, etc pretty often.  And you don't have to worry about backerboard, etc, like you do for ceramic tile.  Good luck!
