I have a Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook C series, on the bottom of the base is the compartment for the memory, next to it though is another compartment, when you take the cover off there is a single empty slot which looks similar but slightly different to the memory ones, anyone know what its for?

  1. I think you are refering to the WI-FI slot this looks like a long ram slot, you will normally see two aerial wires in this slot ready for connection http://www.trilogicuk.co.uk

  2. I believe it is a compartment for a webcard (aka WIFI card). I have one on my laptop. It it's about 1.5-2 inches long and 0.5 cm thick. Using a webcard, I can connect to the internet if I'm within a wireless (aka WIFI) network.

  3. I've checked some Lifebook C series product specifications and the most of them have slot for SD Card/Memory Stick Pro and slot for PC Card Type I/II/III. And if I will base it on your description, if its different from the memory ones then that is the PC Card slot

  4. Does the laptop have wi-fi? Is there what appears to be an antenna cable coming into the compartment?

If the answers to those questions are no and yes respectively it is probablly a slot for adding a wi-fi card.
