You've obviously never seen one of his films. In the UK anyways he is often seen as a typical gun-ho American. He's very over the top with his acting and the whole film is usually very cheesy.

He never seems to lose at anything he does and hes always the best. His popularity isn't a measure that he is liked. His popularity stems from the stereotype he promotes of 1980's to early 1990's America.

PS. I know Americans don't act like him so don't shout at me! Its the same as how the stereotype of us Brits is either Hugh Grant or Austin Powers!

His acting is horrible but his martial arts skills are awesome. Guys like him because they want to be that masculine and tough.
