Whats the fastest way to get my left splits?

i've danced for 12 years and i still don't have my left splits. and this year my coachs said that if you don't have your right and left splits down then you won't make varsity.

i've been trying for many years but they just won't go down.

i'm not a naturally flexible person.

like what are some good stretches to get them down quickly?

thanks.

  1. you need to get down as far as you can go and hold it for at least a minute. it will hurt, but if you do that everyday then you should have your split in at least a month. just work hard and dont give up. once you have it though you need to keep doing it so youdont lose your spit

  2. sit on the floor with your legs as far apart as you can strecth them without it being uncomfortable. then try to grap your left ankle as you lie your side on your leg (your left ear should touch your knee) and raise the other arm up and strech it towards the ankle. repeat this on the other side. then try to grab your left ankle with your both hands and lean forward (your chin should touch your knee) then repeat this on the right side. then lean forward in the middle with your hands in the front streched as far as you can ( your stomach should touch the floor) well none of the things have to touch them but that's the direction you should be leaning. after you've leaned in the middle get up and slide into your splits or repeat this exercise everyday and you should be able to be flexible enough to do splits.

  3. :0 oh no! i feel terrible for you. that must be a lot of pressure. you have to stretch till it hurts you. but not so much where you're injured. just till you feel discomfort. i have no specific stretches, but anything that includes the legs should work. stretch for long periods. you have to hold it down too, that could be the problem if you can't get it. i did that and i felt like i would never get it.

well geez dude keep trying. i wouldn't want you to NOT get it. that would suck

  4. This site really helps! It shows how to get them in 3 weeks if you are really commited

  5. I'm currently working on my splits too, and I found a pretty neat relatively painless way to work on them (my way only works if you are relatively close to the ground). First, get on top of your bed, and get into a split posistion (go horizontally on your bed, or if yours is a twin size, go vertically if there's no board at the end). Now, edge yourself off so that your right leg is bent off of the bed. You won't get your split this way, but it will make your hamstrings flexible enough so that you can add in the bent part of your right leg! Hope this helps :)
