I looked for open auditions online but they all charge you money..are those even legit? Classes are so expensive and you can't get an agent without having a resume as I've tried..but I can't even build a resume without open opportunities!! I live in L.A also, modeling is an option but im only 5'8. What do i DO???

  1. Audition. Go to an acting school, for theatre or film depending on what you want to do...however theatre schools seem to train better but that's just my opinion.  There are plenty of ways to get financial aid and after school it should be much easier to get jobs and an agent and you'll have improved your experience and training. You need to stand out and school is one way to do that.

  2. First, headshots don't really help a whole lot in an acting career.  They are great to include, but you need either a demo reel, or acting experience.  You won't be able to model at 5'8."

Go to a community theatre.  Act for free.  You can put this on your resume, therefore build it up.

NEVER EVER EVER pay to audition.  There are tons of casting calls for extras in L.A. - just go to one and sign up.  It's easy!  Never use an online source as they are VERY sketchy.

  3. Usually, you can act in comunity theatre's for free. so try looking up auditions for that. and i don't think open auditions that charge you money are legit, so i would steer clear.

  4. Audition! Audition! Audition!!.. did I say audition?

Go to cattle calls, open audition, anything and everything. First get your FACE out there. Even if you audition for something that you know you're totally wrong for. You never know, the casting director could remember you for a different part that does suit you. They could have different project in the works and ask you to go to those.

    Just get yourself out there!
