  1. It does depend on the time of year that you are going...

I've been to Montreal a few times and I love it. Its a 6-7 hour flight because its in the east so much closer than Vancouver.

Quebec is such a beautiful corner of the world, with the awe-inspiring vistas and rugged colourful terrain that you expect from Canada, but with the culture and easy living of a european destination owing to its French heritage.

Quebec city is really beautiful and romantic, historic and full of art and bon cuisine. Check out whale watching in Tadoussac, walking or possibly skiing at Mt.Tremblant or a visit to the Montmorency Falls (far less populated and tacky than Niagara). All within a day trip from Mtl.

All the best, hope you's have a great time wherever you get to.

  2. Well, if you want the shortest flight to Canada you should go to St. John's, Newfoundland. That's only a 5 hour flight. St. John's is quite similar to a town in Ireland or Britain (especially Ireland). It's a lively little city, and much like the UK, when the sun actually comes out the people certainly appreciate it.

If you like very old cities with a lot of nice architecture and nice hotels, I would suggest Quebec City. That is about a 7 hour flight. In Quebec City you will need a French speaking guide. But it is really the most charming city in Canada, some say.

If you go to Quebec City, a train to Montreal is a fine idea. You get to see the Quebec countryside, which is heavenly in spring and summer. Montreal is a world class city and it is overflowing with charm.

If you'd like more of a modern holiday, I'd suggest Toronto with a train trip to Ottawa. Toronto is unique for a big city in North America, there's no other quite like it. You will have no shortage of things to do in Toronto, theater and the orchestra are recommended. Ottawa is a happy little Canadian city, and the capital of Canada. It's one of the friendliest cities in Canada. The flight to Toronto is about 8.5 hours and the train to Ottawa is a few hours.

I hope I was of help!

  3. London to Vancouver is 10 hours. Have fun!

  4. about 6 and a half hours to Toronto, depending on if you have to stop somewhere. CN Tower, Niagra Falls (Canadian side) The island, downtown Toronto

  5. The time it takes to fly to Canada is the same as the time difference between Britain and Canada,  which causes the peculiar affect of arriving at the same time that you have left.  So, you leave at Thursday 10 am 21st April and arrive on Thursday 10 am 21st April.  I lived in British Columbia for 10 years.

British Columbia is apparently the most beutyfull part of Canada.  It's mostly virgin forest.  There are snow caped mountains and ski resorts outside vancouver.  Vancouver is quite a nice city.  It's an hours drive from the Peace Arch border between America and Canada.  Seattle is the nearest city in America to Vancouver which you can visit in a day trip by driving or by train.  We lived in White Rock right near the border and one year drove down through washington state, oregon and california to Los Angeles.   This took about 3 days.  My brother caught a train to San Franscisco from Vancouver, an overnight sleeper.  He found the journey boring thoguh.
