Grankforks in my opinion is a small crappy town that I didn't take a second look at during my 8 hour drive from Vancouver to Nelson. I doubt anyone would know what you're talking about.

Personally, I like Grand Forks. If I were you I'd head out to Christina Lake and spend the day there. Or you can go tubing down the Kettle River. It's great at this time of year.
