  1. i know a friend who does it and the asking price now can be between 500 to 600 pounds

  2. between £6 and £7 an hour

  3. You've just asked the wages for 3 completely different professions!

A nanny in London will expect anything from about £20k to £30k pa depending on conditions, experience, live-in etc. The price then drops as you move to a less pofessional standard - childminder (generall paid per hour but still based on experience) and then baby-sitter (normally some girl from the local school).

You need to do some research and ask yourself what type of person you're looking for.

Remember ...... as with other products and services, cheaper usually means a lower quality!

Regarding Agency v freelance nannies ....... a Nanny will usually find a new position through an agency or word-of-mouth. Either way they usually know their value on the market and this will be reflected in the prices agencies charge. If you are not in a cirlce of people that know or use Nannies, you will have to go through an agency to find the right person.

You can find childminders through agencies as well and as I said, these will be cheaper but will probably not have the same skills or experience.
