Whats the going rate for repair to a car that needs electrical work?

Oldsmobile 95 Cutlass Supreme. Brake lights are not working properly wanting to find out what the going rate is to have electrical work fixed on a car. Thanks

  1. It will vary depending on the shop you take it to. Check and find out what the hourly rate is for the shop you are thinking of taking your car to. Also check the fuses if you have not done so and the bulbs, that is an easy first step and the first place a mechanic would look, I'm a Ford/Chrysler mechanic and that's what I would do first followed by checking for power to and from the brake light switch.

  3. diff. shops, diff. rates but if you are taking it to a dealer then expect to pay around 60-70 bucks an hour and any other shop i would say around 30 bucks an hour.. check the multifunction switch also they have been know to go bad on GM vehicles and cause no brake lights... good luck man!
