  1. A possible 155 if your opponent messes up first.

  2. 155 is the highest break one can acheive.thats with a free ball of course.

the highest break on tv is 147.

this has been done three times on (on tv)

ronnie o sulivan did it in 5 mins 33 secs.

    `

  3. 155 - player fouls and leaves a 'free ball' with all 15 reds on the table. Opponent takes his 'free ball' along with his 'extra black', then takes 15 reds with 15 blacks and all the colours ... 155

    Torbrexbone's beat me to it!

147 is the recognised highest break

By the way, Nutter (three answers down from this), the 147 break has been televised a h**l of lot more times than three.

Oh, and John P (four answers down from this), yes it is funny laughing at all those patronising early answers. Why would you even think about being patronising about something you obviously know very little about? It's just dangerous!

  4. 148 is the highest break ever made in a professional snooker match by Jamie Burnett in a qualifiying match for the UK Championships. There have been other recorded instances of '16' red breaks, including a 135 by Steve James in the World Championships many years ago. I believe that Tony Drago once made a 149 in an exhibition match.

  5. 147 is the highest ever made in a competition but it is possible to make a 155 break if you get a free ball to start and pot a colour (1) then a black (7) and then clear all the balls on the table making 155

  6. The highest possible break is155.

You have 15 reds & 15 blacks & the colours to give you 147.

If the the person breaking off fouls off the break & leaves a free ball this gives you a 16th red. So if you take a black with the free ball then the 15 reds & blacks & all the colours this will give you 155. ( If You give an opponent 155 head start and he/she fouls from the break and you make a 155 break then the scores are equal and there is a respotted black. You win the toss and pot the black giving you 162 ) This though would not be legal.

I don't think anyone has made a 155 but I have heard of some one making higher than 147. I was told it's in the Guiness Book Of Records.

  7. The reason they call 147 the maximum break is because it's the maximum you can score from a break...duh

  8. 155 after a foul and free ball.Isn't it funny that those patronising 147 answers are all wrong.Clever sods!

  9. 147 is the highest ever made in a tv competition but it is possible to make a 155 break if you get a free ball to start and pot a colour, which now acts as a red (1) then a black (7) . for this to happen would be extremely rare to be snookered on all 15 reds and then clear the table.

  10. 147 for sure

  11. After a foul by opponent and a free ball it is in theory possible to get 155 with a black being taken after the free ball red.

  12. Why do you think the 147 break is named the maximum break? It's because that's the most it's possible to score if you pot the black after every red. If you can find a way to score higher then I'm sure the snooker authorities would love to know...

  13. no...147 is the total highest break
