  1. The same way bringing a camcorder in a movie theater is considered a threat to the war on p****y.  Just like you don't want pirates taping movies and putting them on the Internet the DOD doesn't want visitors of sensitive areas calling their buddies with information or taking pictures of maps of a unit's battle space in Iraq.  You also wouldn't want to e-mail the details of your next mission to your girlfriend in case someone hacks into your e-mail and knows that you are coming.

If you have to ask such a question then I know for a fact that YOU don't need to go anywhere near a secured area.

  2. Hypothetically, you don't see how bringing a camera into a secure area could be a problem? Cell phones especially, since they're not just for phone calls anymore.

  3. Are you for real, all you have to do is think about the question you just asked and you'll be able to answer it yourself.

  5. only for the fact that they're instruments of communication that have and continue to be hacked by our enemies for location and for what they contain (information).

Sometimes, it isn't what the device contains, most electronic devices have some sort of foot-print that allows for breaks in integrity.  Media hardware, or any hardware for that matter doesn't really matter--they all are identifiable by intelligence personnel.

...and if the media (or any device) device isn't government sanctioned, there is no doubt being compromised becomes first priority.

Remember, the enemy can locate your position by pinging multiple towers in your location.  They cross or triangle the lines to get pinpoint or relatively close information on your location---sometimes to the foot.

This has been no doubt a concern of the military since the dawn of war.  That's why we have jamming and counter-jamming devices to preclude the enemy from getting our secure information.

  6. If your opponent can be kept from learning your plans you have a better chance to succeed. A media device could contain an intelligence gathering  gathering device such as  a camera or bug.

  7. Any media device that can record or save information held within a secure location is considered to be a compromising device.  If the device is not serialized and accounted for by the location in question, then it represents a threat to the information held in that location.
