so i just started using tampons and i used Playtex Sport and got the least absorbant kind. but when i took it out, after 6 hours, it hurt really bad and I could tell the tampon had a lot of absorbancy left, which is probably why it hurt. But i put the tampon in on the second day of my period when it was heavy, so i obviously just need a less absorbant kind of tampon. is there a tampon with less absorbancy than a Regular out there?

  1. Playtex Sport was a bad idea because they are the most absorbant! They are amazing!! You should get Playtex Gentle Glide Junior/Slenders With Light or Regular Absorbency. They will not hold as much, so be sure to change it every 4-6 hours!

  2. lites

    or

    a panty liner

  3. Yes, there are lite tampons on the market.  Also, I'd encourage you to research a condition called Toxic Shock Syndrome.  TSS can be prevented by changing tampons frequently .... I'm thinking that wearing the same tampon for 6 hrs may be dangerous.   In fact, if I recall correctly, I believe that women are cautioned to change every 2 hrs or so, in order to prevent TSS.  If your period is so light that you can go for 6 hours, you may want to consider a couple of panty liners, one placed on top of another, for those days.

Here is one link for TSS (and I'm sure there are many more out there):

    Good luck.
