I am a cider drinker and I have been for about 10 years now, but I think cider is so bad for your teeth and digestive system that I dont want to drink it for another 10 years, whats the best alternative?? I was thinking guiness or beer, but are these really any better??

  1. No, its really not any better.  In general, the sugar content of beer might be slightly less then cider, but the differences are negligible.

The only factor sugar rotting teeth is HOW LONG the sugar remains on your teeth, NOT HOW MUCH sugar is in the beverage.  That being said, as long as you brush your teeth regularly, you will not have negative effects.

As for your digestive system, cider is most likely similar to beer in its negative/neutral effects.

In order to gain some nutrition from both beer and cider, you have to drink the unfiltered and unpasteurized kinds (these processes remove nutrients).

In order to avoid negative affects to your digestive system, liver/kidney, etc., you must drink less, and drink less often.

Go here for some tips as to why beer isnt healthy, and keep in mind that everything said about beer can be said about cider.  The only difference is barley malt (sugar) vs. fruit juice (sugar), so they are basically the same.
