Whats the length of largest snake ever caught?

heard story of 30 foot python. wanting to know if its correct.

  1. Both the green anaconda and the reticulated python can reach 33 feet in length, but the anaconda is much heavier at up to 550lb. However, such huge specimens are now rare in the wild due to hunting and habitat destruction by humans. Most 'giant' snakes these days are in captivity.


  2. That is very close to the record.  I heard it was something like 33 feet for a reticulated python.  That wasn't the largest snake ever which would have been an anaconda somewhere near 30 feet long.

  3. Not to steal the earlier poster's answer but the longest snake was 32 ft and 9.5 inches long and yes, it was a reticulated python caught in Indonesia, SE Asia in 1912. The largest snake is the Anaconda of S. America if you go by body mass and volume.
