Whats the limit of songs you can put on an ipod shuffle?

I have a 1g ipod shuffle so how many songs can i fit on it?

i have an mp3 player that can get about at least 500 songs, but i'm sure the ipod has to be as least at that capacity. also, i would try to listen to the song before i sync it on the player, because sometimes, the song is defective every now and then.
