Whats the little ball in ramune for?

I noticed that whenever the soda touches the ball, it fizzes up. What the heck is that ball made of?

the ball is just made of glass, nothing fancy or exciting i'm afraid.  it's a specific type of bottle which is used called a "codd-neck" bottle, and basically it was designed for fizzy drinks.  although not many brands use them any more, only a few asian drinks have the disticnt bottle.
