  1. No  Your offer should have had a time limit, and if you went through a real estate agent I'm sure it did (unless there are some special circumstances)   The usual time is more like 24-48 hrs. and a good real estate agent would have gotten back to you within 24 hrs even if he/she didn't have an answer.

  2. yes it is ask you realtor why no response-- unless it is a foreclosed property--then it could take weeks

  3. Look at your sales/purchase contract where you made the offer.  There is a section that will tell you how long the other party will consider your offer.  The normal time frame is 3-5 days.  Some sellers will put in a period of up to 14 days.

There is no certain legal time frame. It depends what was in the contract.  I had to wait 15 days before.

You can always call them.  They may have had accepted another offer and didn't say anything to you.  There isn't a law that says every offer must be countered.  So call them and if they are not interested get your earnest money back.

  4. The longest I ever saw was 9 months on a short sale (being foreclosed on) property.  That's extreme however.

If you're not involved in a property that is being foreclosed on, then consult your purchase contract.  It should state quite plainly how much time the offeree has to respond.

If you have a real estate agent working for you, then perhaps your agent has received notification, but hasn't told you yet.  Sometimes that happens.

At 7 days however, I would be wondering what was going on as well.
