M'assuming theres a certain limit to the amount of baccy and alcohol you can bring into other countries

How much tobacco am I allowed to bring when moving permanently abroad from the United Kingdom to Abu Dhabi?

Will it get confiscated since I'm below age limit in Abu Dhabi for smoking?

What if I don't carry it in my handluggage and put it in my suitcase, will that be alright?

The same goes for alcohol. Is there a limit to what you can bring -- will it get confiscated for being underage -- does it make a difference whether I carry it in my handluggage or not?

Ta in advance x

  1. If you're a muslim, you can't bring in any alcohol.

If you're not a muslim, you can bring in up to 2 liters of spirits *and* up to 2 liters of wine.  Tobacco is limited to 10 standard-sized boxes of cigars (400) OR ten cartons of cigarettes (2000) OR 2 pounds loose tobacco.

I don't know what they'll do if you're underage, and it doesn't make a difference which luggage it's in.

  2. Dear Friend

For two reasons, in UAE you are not allowed to bring tobacco or alcohol. Those are; 1) Muslim, 2) Children. If you are not belongs to these two categories, you will be allowed to bring the limited quantity of Tobacco and Alcohol (no matter, if you are moving here permanently or temporary)

From Duty Free of Abu Dhabi:

    Duty Free Allowances

4 liters of Alcohol or One Carton / 24 Cans of Beer

AED2000 worth of Cigarettes or 400 Sticks of Cigarettes

    AED3000 worth of Cigars

    2 Kg Tobacco

AED3000 worth of gifts including perfume

In Abu Dhabi, You may get the Alcohol Permit to purchase alcoholic drinks from beverages shops like Spinneys, A&E, etc.

Also, there are designated clubs and restaurants in hotels that are allowed to serve alcohol to non-Muslims, outside of which public consumption of alcohol is prohibited. There are also designated areas for smoking in nearly all business and leisure establishments. Serving alcoholic beverages in some establishments, however, is limited or suspended during Ramadan.

Best of Luck & Welcome to Abu Dhabi

    Thx
