I think this is about somebody who has been with their significant other for quite a while, but it's somewhat of a one-ended relationship. They're finally realizing this, "I'm wasting my time". It's tearing them apart, "But I'm feeling quite off, in my heart". However, this doesn't matter because they are still extremely in love with them, "If I am a clock, then you are the time. I'm patiently waiting when you're out of line, and I'll be the question, if you'll be the answer."
