Is there some sort of hidden meaning like, for example, lucy and the sky with diamonds (LSD)?

  1. It's actually "Being for the benefit of Mr. Kite!". I understand that John Lennon wrote it after seeing an antique circus poster. I think that it was just one of their groovy trippy songs that was inspired by LSD and meant to give psychedelic grooves!  Far out, man!!!

  2. No LSD just a poster. http://home.att.ne.jp/air/tony/radiohead...

  3. Actually Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds was not intentionally LSD. It was not John who named it, it was his son, Julian. Julian Lennon drew a picture of his friend Lucy from school. When John asked him what it was, Julian said "Lucy in the sky with diamonds." John just thought that was beautiful and wrote the song. http://au.geocities.com/maljam2002/lucyi... - the picture that Julian Lennon drew

And as for Benefit of Mr. Kite, John basically got all the ideas from a circus advertisement poster. http://strawberryfields.4mg.com/photo4.h... - the third picture is the poster

  4. The song's title comes from a standard 19th century phrase used in advertising testimonial performances in Britain -"Being for the benefit for." John Lennon acknowledged the lyrics were derived almost word for word from the wording of an Victorian circus poster he took from a cafe during the filming of promotional clips for the "Penny Lane"/"Strawberry Fields: record. All-round performer William Kite worked alongside Pablo Fanque and wire-walker/clown/trampolines the Hendersons in 1843.
