im 16 and was wondering if i was old enough to be able to handle money in a working environment yet.

  4. You can be a cashier at age 16, but you are not allowed to sell alcohol,tobacco products, or solvents until you are over age 18.

  5. If you are over compulsory school age (your school can tell you this) then you can work like anyone else as a cashier. (If you are still studying your studies might limit the time you have)

    If you have to go to school then you can only work a certain number of hours per day and there are limits to the times (i.e. not working before 7am). Your local council can set rules about this so look up their website and see what it says (try the "Children and Families" or "education" or "young people" sections).
