For muggings, assaults and killings basically. People keep saying Venezuela or Colombia... is that true, or jibberish? Oh and if its so dangerous there... why don't they put more police out or something? Are they that stupid to not know that they can make it safer for tourists if they put more police out?

  1. probably miami

  2. i would say colombia! don't go there

  3. It's not Colombia. It's a shame people keep saying that. I was robbed in Argentina, in Buenos Aires, in the middle of the street, in front of the hotel and nobody helped me. They just told me I should be more careful because it was a very dangerous and to use their own words, "people would kill you for a pound of rice".

I didn't understand at the time, but then someone explained that the situation in that country is so bad that you just can't go to a grocery store to buy a few groceries because the moment you step out you're going to be robbed by all the people that are there waiting for a victim.

I decided to leave for Chile the very next day.

That.. has never happened to me in Colombia, or any other country.

  4. Colombia, Venezuel, or Brasil (have you seen that video of the tourists being mugged?)

  5. Hi,

I was on vacation for the first time in Colombia in July and before i left i was soo scared everybody talks horrors about it.  To my surprise it was not dangerous at all.  I think if you use common sense like not getting into dangerous areas especially at night or showing off money you should be okay.  It's like if I go to downtown LA here in California at night most likely it will be dangerous and i can get into trouble.  Colombia is very beautiful and there are many places to see and visit so give yourself a lot of time.  As for Venezuela I know a couple that just came back from vacation and they said it was safe and they were surprised with how organized and beautiful it was.  So good luck.

  6. Venezuela and NOT Colombia. Colombia used to be very dangerous because of the guerilla but now the current president has it kind of under control. The safest place?..Chile.

The most dangerous undoubtedly is Venezuela, both for its criminality and political risk. I am right. Period.

Hey Canadian guy, yes medellin can be a little dangerous. Do you speak any spanish? Don't go solo, you'll get rip off.
