  1. do what you think is right for you & your baby/you might not like at times but take help from people & appreciate it even though you might want to spend every second with your baby but don't be to quick to say here take him/her you can't just trust anyone with your baby so be careful & cautious & also burp him/her well if you don't you can expect a bunch of baby throw up & maybe tummy aches=crying but most importantly enjoy every second with your baby & don't give up on breastfeeding don't give formula cause you don't think your producing enough milk, the more he feeds the more milk you'll produce even if it's only a little[it's enough for him/her!] good luck & congrats

  2. Trust your instincts,Don't worry about what others think of what you do,do what YOU think is best for your family & enjoy every second.

Eta-I forgot take as many pictures as you can and write everything down so you do not forget.

  3. I agree with all of the others that answered "trust your instinct"...I must add.  Enjoy you time with them, they grow way too fast!  Love them more than you have loved anything!

    CONGRATS!

  4. I agree trust your instincts as a mother.  Do not let them know it all midwifes that are by the book make you feel stupid and dont know what you are doing . Its not all midwifes some are lovely but im afraid you do get the ones who are so set in their ways and each baby is different .

I had my 4th child not long back and I was sure he had colic (all my 3 other babies had not got it) and I say my baby health nurse and she told me I dont know how to settle a child and i dont have enough milk and made me feed him in front of her when he just had a feed to pick on things i was doing ... I was so upset and lost my confidence then few days later I said to hubby right Im not going to listen to here i have done this 3 times, Im going to trust my instincs as a mother and change my diet to see if the colic eases and sure enough he was a different baby..

So its nice to have advice but the advice you are given no matter how much experience they have, but just remember they arnt always right and some things work different with babies some dont it all depends on YOUR baby. There are guidelines out there how much bub sleeps, eats etc but again thats all they are guidelines..

One thing I wished I did do was sleep when baby sleeps durind day I was so fussed on clean house and managing evrything and now I look back wished I did it so REST WHEN BUB DOES :)

Just remember as long as your baby is doing plenty wet nappies and putting on steady weight they are doing fine.

    good luck

  5. Take advice, and leave advice.  If it doesn't feel right to you, don't do it.  People are very opinionated and think they know what is best....but what is best for their child(ren) is not necessarily best for your child.

If you ever have a gut feeling that something is wrong with your child, don't ever hesitate to take them in.  9 times out of 10, there is something wrong.  Don't feel "stupid, paranoid, or just plain ignorant" about parenting.  Your gut tells you everything you need to know :) :)

  6. No matter what fight for your baby and do what you believe is right. Mothers really do know best.

  7. Do what works best for YOU and your family...advice is just that.

  8. Go with your instinct.

No one knows your baby like you do.

  9. advice.

try to relax and enjoy it.  don't rush back to work and when the crying pushes you to the brink, put the baby down and walk away before you do something you'll regret.

  10. Don't be too hard on yourself. Just do your best and don't put too much pressure on yourself to be Supermom. All your baby needs is love and good care. Don't sweat the small stuff.

  11. Trust your instincts.

  12. breast feeding is hard... be patient and give it your best shot. but remember in the end, its about you and your baby and no matter what you choose, the most important thing is that your baby is eating and growing.

  13. I think you get the idea.. you are a woman, women are meant to be mothers, just trust yourself and don't be afraid to ask for help.

Enjoy it all-the diaper changes, the sleepless nights, the spit-up, they grow up so darn fast you won't believe it!

  14. crying has never hurt a baby, when need be it is OKAY to put the baby down in a crib, shut the door and take a couple minutes to relax.

  15. I agree with the previous answers, trust your instincts. It's amazing how fast they kick in!

  16. I agree with all of those. But also take pictures and wrote down everything. These little things, like blowing bubbles in milk the first time, go by SO QUICKLY,  that it is hard to believe. Don't take for granted the things around you. And watch your child discover the world. A worm digging itself into the ground is boring for us and we are used to it. But a little boy will sit there for an hour and watch. Those things are so precious. A baby newly discovering her hands, lovely. The world is new to babies and children. Watch their faces and remember what it looks like when they discover the world around them.

    Good Luck and God bless.
