  1. i think its like 7.5 inches in denver. not positive though

  2. This is not official but is usually regarded as accurate. In the winter of 1888 in the Sierras around Donnor Pass and Truckee area the railroad recorded over 30 feet of snowfall.  The town of Truckee has paralyzed and the only way to exit buildings was through the second stories.  They constructed tunnels to connect parts of the town.  The railroad had to bring in 40 ton plows from the mid-west to try and keep the tracks clear and they couldn't.  They would line up to five engines behind the plow, get to full speed and ram the snow.  They would get about 1/2 mile into the snow before being bogged down.  The railroad finally had to hire chinese labors from the central valley of California to hand dig out the tracks.  Usually they would be five tiers deep shoveling snow up to the next tier above and then out.

  3. The greatest snowfall ever in a single storm was 189 inches at the Mount Shasta Ski Bowl in February, 1959.

  4. "The snowiest winter ever recorded in Milwaukee was the 1885-'86 season, when the total accumulation was 109.8 inches, according to the weather service."
