i used to play it in high school!! you use regular playing cards... here are some of the rules i remember: you name different things for each face card you lay down (ie. kings, you name an elvis song; queens, something old, new, borrowed, blue; aces, you named one of the beatles) i dont remember what jacks were!

you had to lay your hand down when it wasnt your turn, you werent allowed to talk during game play, you had to say something if you want to stop the game so that you could ask a question!

you got penalty cards if you broke any of the BILLIONS of rules or if you didnt play your turn fast enough!!

it was loads of fun and id like to re-learn how to play so i can teach my family!!

  1. It does sound a lot like mow. http://www.wikihow.com/Play-Mow explains the basic rules. It seems like every group plays with a different base set of rules though. The sites description for mow is odd though. My friends and I play that whoever wins the hand is king mow and makes up a new rule which they don't tell anybody and that stays in effect until you are done playing.

  2. that sounds very similar to a game i play called "petroli" only the set of base rules we use are different. No talking unless you call "time out" and no touching your cards while in a time out.

if a club is played you must say for example "eight of clubs"

if a 7 is played you must say "have a nice day" and the next person must say "thank you very much"

if an ace is played it skips a player

if a 2 is played then play is reversed

after someone runs out of cards they make up a new rule to add for the next round

any violation of the rules and any other player can say "card for not saying 'thank you very much'" or whatever rule it was that was broken, then play continues
