  1. For the most part it's a training facility.  It bears little resemblance to the real navy which you'll experience once you get out to the fleet.

  2. It's a training command - strict guidelines and many uniform & room inspections.  Just like the Chief below said not like the fleet but just like any other training command.

The area is beautiful - I went to school for many years up the street at Corry Station, went to school three times. Great fishing in the ocean and freshwater (watch out for gators - YES onbase). The beach sand is white like sugar.

Remember to put your nose to the grindstone and study - it can be hard to do since P'cola is a partying town. They have a really big Commissary & Exchange (was there last April '08).

Weather can be miserable though with thunderstorms and hot hot MUGGY weather...

Camping if you like at Blue Angles Parkway and many other places, nice Navy Lodge onbase at a few out around town. Eglin AFB is about 45 minutes away if you wanted to do some more freshwater fishing....

Oh did I mention - offbase - lots of RADAR - keep the speed down.

  3. I don't know much details, other than it's a little bit strict but it's beautiful there!
