Every generation seems to go through a scare. Will it be something like oxygen, water, or food?

  1. Maybe the Acid rain scare of the 80's will make a comeback.

  2. This is not a scare tactic - we are now in rapidly increasing fuel prices which will become extremely inconvenient and inflationary.  Price of diesel where I live is now $4.29 gal, = everything shipped by truck will cost more!

Let's properly fix the blame on Environmentalists! If anyone needs to be eliminated (EUGENICS) - let them be the first.

You might get a kick out of this:

    WALKING AND BEER

A recent study found the average American walks about 900 miles per year.

Another study found Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of beer a  year.

That means, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon.

Kind of makes you proud to be an American

  3. Water, didn't you see the report that lists all the drugs in our drinking water...?

    That'll be the next scare...

Remember the 'modus operandi' is to go after the evil profit making companies...

  4. I think its the Chinese c**p we get all over the world filled with known Poisons!

  5. I'm trying to remember all the ones I've survived. The nuclear threat, solar nova, Y2K, Global cooling, asteroids, volcanic eruptions, lunar drift, continents sinking, man eating bacteria. I'm sure there's more but I'm just going to add GW to the list. Yep, all these were backed by scientific approval. I must be a pretty tough cookie to live through all that.

The next scare might be something like rapid evolutionary development, due to solar flux.Or devolution for some reason that can be correlated to eating peanuts. They will find something.

  6. Actually, if you follow the science publications and research journals (which you clearly don't), you would realise that evidence for global warming and the human influence is still accumulating.

The fact that the media are more interested in other things at the moment makes no difference whatsoever to scientists. They do their research regardless (and don't get paid much for it either, if you check out the job ads for postgrad researchers), and always have.

In fact, the research into global warming has been going on for decades, and the scientific evidence has never been seriously challenged by anyone other than crackpots who think a "feedback mechanism" in atmospheric science is something to do with loudspeakers.

Will stupid and uneducated comments on environmental science ever end from these conspiracy theory nutters? Alas, no. The internet allows even dumb and moronic people to have a say.

Oh great. Now the founder of the Weather Channel is a scientific authority on atmospheric research. Who next? Rupert Murdoch? Ted Turner? Michelle Leigh, the  weather bimbo from Fox? Daffy Duck maybe?

  7. Genetically engineered giant killer chickens, with big sharp pointy teeth.

  8. The founder of the Weather Channel wants to sue Al Gore for fraud, hoping a legal debate will settle the global-warming debate once and for all.

John Coleman, who founded the cable network in 1982, suggests suing for fraud proponents of global warming, including Al Gore, and companies that sell carbon credits.

"Is he committing financial fraud? That is the question," Coleman said.

"Since we can't get a debate, I thought perhaps if we had a legal challenge and went into a court of law, where it was our scientists and their scientists, and all the legal proceedings with the discovery and all their documents from both sides and scientific testimony from both sides, we could finally get a good solid debate on the issue," Coleman said. "I'm confident that the advocates of 'no significant effect from carbon dioxide' would win the case.

  9. perhaps it'll be n***s... those guys turned out to be totally tame didn't they?

  10. I'm sure the liberal politicians and their ilk will come up with something, they always do.

  11. Could be anything - people need something to be outraged about.

How about recovering a few old themes which will appeal to an older demographic because the population in a lot of countries is aging.  I'd guess the fall of public morality standards, the deteriating standards of education and behaviour of young people.

  12. Scientist Implicates Worms in Global Warming

Jim Frederickson, the research director at the Composting Association has called for data on worms and composting to be re-examined after a German study found that worms produce greenhouse gases 290 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

Worms are being used commercially to compost organic material and is in preference to putting it into the landfill. The German government wants 45% of all waste to be composted by 2015.

"Everybody... thinks they can do no harm but they contribute to global warming. People are looking into alternative waste treatments but we have to make sure that we are not jumping from the frying pan into the fire," said Frederickson.

  13. I have to agree that water will be the next battle ground. The US will be forced to pay fines for contaminated sources in other countries, probably due to atmospheric fall out.

  14. I believe that the next threat to humanity will be a bunch of freakin' thug wacko Islamofascists that want to blow our arses up.

Yeah, a significant portion of our country is worrying about a warmup of 0.7 C over a century while some people that want to kill us are looking for nuclear weapons.  These same do gooders worrying about the warming want to just talk to the terrorists and let them know how much we care about the world they live in also.

I wonder what effect a handful of nuclear explosions will do to the climate.

  15. Housing crisis or some fool thing like that.    Ridiculous, just pay cash and forget about the banks.

  16. Global warming is more of a threat than ever, in the real scientific world.

Water is already a problem in the developing world, as is food. People tend to forget that.

  17. Yes, exactly.  It will be a steady drumbeat until there is not enough food to feed everyone; no clean water to drink or clean air left to breathe.  Then the environmentalists will say "I told you so" and people like you will be saying...what?  Why didn't you make me listen?  Seriously, besides a continuation of  your current totally unsupported, illogical, nonfactual babbling to the tune of "it ain't so", "never happened", "ain't gonna happen" and  "this thing we are looking at right now with our own eye's isn't happening" nonsense; what will you say?

  18. were still 5/16 of 1 degree above the 100 year average so they will probably keep screaming we're going to all burn up and drown since they've never had as much as 1 degree to panic about since the whole thing started.

I'm ready for whatever's next since the ridiculous focus on CO2 is getting a little boring. hopefully the next argument will be credible enough to at least be amusing.

edit  my bad, latest data is 9/16 of a degree.  NOW WE CAN PANIC!

  19. I suspect that the next scam will be that all the wind turbines now being installed are taking too much energy from the winds and soon we will be experiencing "Global Calming"

Some of the symptoms will be unusually warm in some spots, cold in other areas, droughts for some parts of the country while other areas will have floods all because there isn't the energy in the air to move the climate around.
