  1. the number of chromosomes in human being is 46 or 23 pairs.at the time of mitosis -cell division there is no change in the number of chromsomes i.e. the same number of chromosomes pass into the daughter cells. all the cells in our body except gonds produce the new cells by division containing 46 chromosomes where as the cell of the gonads produce new cells having half the number of chromosomes i.e.23.


  2. Chromosomes are only visible during mitosis and the cells  have the diploid number( 2n).  In humans this is 46 = 23 pairs.
